WE DEEPLY REGRET TO INFORM YOU . . .
The Southern Light Show has been canceled by the Camden County Commissioners. We have just received notice that the Camden County Commissioners have issued an order for us to cease operations. We applied for and paid for a special events permit in September and approval was recommended through the Planning and Zoning Office, and unanimously approved through their Planning and Zoning Board in October. A few of our neighbors complained about potential issues with noise, traffic, and strobe lights (none of which we have) and them being a nuisance and the county commission has denied us being able to open. We have worked diligently to be good neighbors by limiting nightly attendees and having our events at the back of our 359 acre property so others would not be disturbed by our event. We are so disappointed and certainly disagree with their decision, but as time is of the essence with a Christmas light show, we don't really have the time to get a legal resolution or have an appeal considered before the season is over. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and know that many children will be disappointed by this decision. There are so few old-fashioned, family-friendly Christian-focused events for children and families. We were so excited at the prospect of bringing families together and creating lasting memories for all that our hearts are truly breaking.
For those that purchased Christmas Club memberships, please look for a full refund of your purchase on your credit card in the next 5-7 business days. If you have made a donation to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign, we will not refund the donation portion and will make that donation on your behalf. We send our deepest apologies and blessings for a nice holiday season. We thank you for your interest and support and we can let you know if we are able to work something out for next year.
